Other payments options without Buyer Protection Policy
While we require Suppliers on our Directory to have Paypal or Amazon Pay methods, this does not stop the supplier from having other payment methods such as Stripe, Alipay, Apple pay,Shopify payment, direct bank payments or other payment processors.
We warn that users be very careful with using other Payment processors or getaways. This is because not all Payment gateways offer a Buyer protection policy.
A payment gateway can be very reputable and not have a Buyer protection policy, since the job of a payment gateway is to securely process money and collect money on behalf of a merchant, the role of a Payment processor may end at it.
Nevertheless, Without a Buyer protection policy, it means that Buyers are left to channel thier complaints to their bank to retrieve their funds via a process known as a chargeback or the merchant to make a refund where necessary .The following Payment processors although highly reputable have no Buyer protection policy;
Banks, Government laws and e-commerce protection
There are buyer protection policies that comes based on the Consumer protection rights and laws Applicable your Country.
Different Countries can have different Consumer protection laws that can pose an extra layer of Buyer protection and guarantee.
For example, In European Union Countries, Buyers have the right to return purchases made online or through other types of distance selling, such as by phone, mail order or from a door-to-door salesperson, within 14 days for a full refund. They can do so for any reason – even if they simply changed their mind.
However, the 14-day cooling off period which is guaranteed by the European Union does not apply to all purchases.
According to Article 16(c) and (e) of the Directive 2011/83/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 25 October 2011 on consumer rights, the right of withdrawal may not be provided for:
1. the supply of goods that are made to the consumer’s specifications or are clearly personalized;
2. sealed goods which were unsealed after delivery and thus aren’t suitable for return due to health protection or hygiene reasons
