When your interest is to market your website on Reddit, you’d want to be able to include a link to your website on your Reddit post and Comment! but you might find that you are unable to include links.
You might notice that some users can include links and wonder why you can’t.
You might even think that you are successful at including links but then notice that there are no upvotes or replies to your posts or comments that have links on them or that no traffic is coming to your site from Reddit.
If you are unable to post links on Reddit, here are 5 common reasons why this could be happening and what you can do;
- Your Reddit Account is Shadow banned;
If Reddit Shadow bans your Account, you’ll notice that your post and comments are not getting any upvotes or down votes or replies and this is because your Posts and Comments are only visible to you!
No one else can see your Posts and Comments on Reddit but you!
To find out if you are Shadow banned visit r/shadow ban subreddit, you will still be able to post there even if you are Shadow banned.
Once you post anything there the bot will tell you whether or not you’ve been Shadow banned.
Unfortunately, you’ve been Shadowbanbed, you will have to appeal to Reddit Admins to remove the shadow ban if you are sure that have not broken any Reddit rules, or create a new Reddit Account.
A shadow banned Reddit Account is often permanently banned by Reddit after some time. - You are caught up in a Reddit filter;
If you have been caught in Reddit filter, it means that your post or comment is not visible to others. It’s only visible to you!
However, that would happening to just that particular Post or Comment and is often because that Post or Comment is triggering the spam filter bot.
For example; if you have a new Reddit Account with no Karma and you are making a post or comment that’s has a link on it or including a link to your past or comments too many times.
To find out if you have been caught up in Reddit spam filter; use a different Reddit Account or Reddit anonymous browsing feature, visit that Post or Comment and see if you can see it.
If you can’t see the post but can see your other Posts that do not include a link then you may have been caught up in Reddit spam filters.
Just slow down, write posts and comments that do not include links, get upvoted, build your Karma points and try again!
Try to write another post or comment with a link and see if it goes this time! - You are caught up in a Subreddit filter;
Subreddit moderators can place a filter on their subreddit to checkmate spam!
So if you find that you can post a link on one subreddit but you are unable to post a link on another subreddit then you are caught in a subreddit filter.
You can use a different Reddit Account or Reddit automated browsing feature to visit the subreddit where you made the post, see if the post is visible and compare this by visiting another subreddit where you’ve also made a post with a link.
Most subreddit have s minimum Karma and Reddit Account age requirement to be able to post links.
Read the subreddit rules to see if you meet the requirements, then make helpful comments without links on them, get upvoted, build your Karma up before posting a link again!
If the subreddit does not mention their requirement, some really don’t because they don’t want people to game their spam filtering system, if that’s the case, still take a break, build up your Karma before trying again! - You are banned by a subreddit;
If you are banned by a subreddit, you won’t be able to make any post, comments, down votes or upvote on that subreddit.
It could be because Reditors did only downvote you post or comments, they reported it to the Subredddit mods and they banned you!
Or the Subreddit mods noticed that you were grossly breaking the Subreddit rules and chose to ban you!
In this case, you can appeal to the mods by mod mailing them or accept not to participate in that Subreddit again or create a new Reddit Account and continue participating in that Subreddit.
It’s against Reddit rules to circumvent a Ban, so if you want to create a new Reddit Account, create it with a new email address and name! - You are banned Reddit wide;
If you are banned by Reddit, you will get the “You are permanently banned on Reddit” notification on your Reddit Account.
It could be because Redditors did only downvote your Post or Comments, they reported your Reddit Account many times and Reddit Admins chose to ban you throughout Reddit!
Or the Reddit Admins noticed that you were grossly breaking the Reddit rules and chose to ban you!
In this case, you can accept Ban or appeal to Reddit Admins to remove the Ban if you are sure you didn’t break Reddit rules or create a new Reddit Account!
It’s against the Reddit rules to circumvent a Ban, so if you want to create a new Reddit Account, create it with a new email Account and name!
